Leadership Team

Led by a scientist with hardware that survived space.

In defence deep-tech, credentials are measured in validation signals—not promises. Belvyon Limited is led by Dr Tayfun BEL, a materials scientist whose technologies have been tested aboard the International Space Station, validated by NATO's Defence Innovation Accelerator, and deployed in live-fire trials with Turkey's leading defence contractor.

Fifteen years of research. Eighty-four citations. One founder with the technical depth to navigate MIL-spec qualification and the commercial acumen to scale defence hardware.

Belvyon Limited

Biography

Materials scientist with ISS-validated space heritage and 15+ years in aerospace nanocomposite research and development. Founded Belvyon Limited to commercialise proprietary graphene-metamaterial technologies for defence applications including radar-absorbing canopy coatings, self-healing structural materials, and radiation shielding systems.

Principal investigator on JAXA-Kibo ExHAM Experiment ID 8071—a 13-month orbital exposure study on the International Space Station validating PMMA/colemanite nanocomposite shielding performance. The experiment confirmed 11.1% gamma ray shielding improvement and 38.56% neutron shielding enhancement versus baseline PMMA, validated in the most hostile radiation environment accessible to human engineering—the Van Allen Belts.

PhD in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (2018). a national research council ARDEB 115R017 grant recipient under Turkey's 1001-class programme—the nation's highest academic research funding tier. Patent holder (TR 2017/14987) with 84+ citations across peer-reviewed journals including Materials Chemistry and Physics.

Presented at a regional space forum (Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum) alongside JAXA, NASA, KARI, and Turkish Space Agency delegates. NATO DIANA Step 3 validated for VELON-G graphene-ITO metamaterial canopy technology addressing the 'Contested Electromagnetic Environments' challenge—selected from thousands of proposals across the NATO Alliance.
